Qualcomm is set to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 with Oryon CPU at the upcoming October Snapdragon Summit, as confirmed by CMO Don McGuire at Mobile World Congress. Before this, the company is expected to introduce the SM8635 chip, featuring a Cortex-X4 core and Adreno 735 GPU, likely positioned between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Gen 3.
Qualcomm has previewed its upcoming Snapdragon X Elite SoC, which features the new Oryon CPU cores designed by Qualcomm's Nuvia subsidiary. The high-performance SoC is aimed at powering Windows-on-Arm laptops and is expected to make a major leap in performance compared to previous Qualcomm chips. The Snapdragon X Elite SoC includes 12 Oryon CPU cores, a 128-bit LPDDR5x memory bus, the latest generation Adreno GPU, and a revamped Hexagon NPU for AI processing. The chip is set to launch in mid-2024 and will compete with Intel, AMD, and Apple's latest offerings.
