Director Chris Columbus revealed that 2 million feet of film were shot during the making of the film "Mrs. Doubtfire" due to Robin Williams' extensive improvisation. Williams would give scripted takes and then improvise, often providing completely different takes. The improvisation was so extensive that on several occasions, all the film loaded into the camera was used up. Columbus still has over 900 boxes of footage, including outtakes and behind-the-scenes clips, and hopes to turn them into a documentary showcasing Williams' unique process.
