Google is introducing a wallpaper feature in Google Messages to distinguish RCS chats from SMS and MMS. The default wallpaper consists of overlapping circles and is more visible in light themes. However, there is currently no option to change the wallpaper, suggesting that Google may still be testing the feature.
Google Messages is testing a "Send photos faster" setting that reduces the resolution of images for faster sending via RCS. This feature is not widely rolled out yet and could be useful for those in cellular data-constrained environments or experiencing slow speeds. RCS works by uploading images to a cloud, and Google hasn't disclosed the maximum attachment size for its implementation of RCS. Messages already offers the ability to upload videos to Google Photos instead of MMS.
