Hubble captures stunning image of glittering star cluster.
NASA has released a new image of Messier 55, a globular cluster in the constellation Sagittarius, taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. The image shows the cluster as a glittering spread of jewels, with individual stars visible due to Hubble's clear view from low-Earth orbit. The cluster contains around 100,000 stars, including blue stragglers, which appear bluish and seem younger than other stars around them. The cluster was first spotted in 1752 and was recorded in Charles Messier's catalog of nebulae and star clusters.
