Unveiling the Secrets of Norway's Enigmatic Burial Mound
Archaeologists in Norway have discovered that a huge burial mound on the island of Leka, believed to be the final resting place of ancient King Herlaug, actually conceals the oldest known ship grave in Scandinavia. The mound, dating back to around 700, predates the Viking age and challenges previous understanding of ship building and maritime expertise. The discovery also suggests evidence of wealth and power resulting from long-distance trade. Further research will be conducted to explore possible connections to similar burials in Norway.
