"Shell's Approval Paves the Way for Trinidad's Manatee Offshore Gas Field Development"
Shell has given financial approval for the development of the Manatee gas field offshore Trinidad and Tobago, which holds approximately 10 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Trinidad, Latin America's largest LNG exporter, aims to restore operations at its flagship Atlantic LNG project and feed its petrochemical industry. Shell has sought environmental approval but has not made a final investment decision. The field is part of a cross-border discovery shared by Trinidad and Venezuela, and while a final agreement had not been completed due to US sanctions on Venezuela's energy industry, Trinidad has been allowed to independently develop its portion of the field.
