Actress Aubrey Plaza revealed in a rediscovered interview that a director instructed her to actually masturbate during a scene for the 2013 movie The To Do List. Plaza had expected to simulate the act, but was surprised to find the camera mounted on the ceiling and a crew of "old men smoking" present. Plaza said she was nervous about the scene, which was a full body shot, and had scarred some child actors during another scene where her top fell off. Plaza has recently gained fame for her role in the HBO series The White Lotus.
