Lunar Timekeeping: Understanding Time on the Moon.
There is currently no agreement on what time zone will be used when humans land back on the Moon with Artemis III or establish bases on its surface. The Apollo astronauts did not use any time zone, but for longer-duration missions, a solution is needed. The European Space Agency has called for a discussion on the establishment of a lunar surface time zone, which will become paramount with the establishment of a communication system around the Moon. Suggestions include a Lunar Standard Time, where 24 hours are called a cycle and 30 cycles are a full lunar day.
