Astronomers Discover Ultra-Light 'Cotton Candy' Planet WASP-193b

Astronomers have discovered WASP-193b, a planet larger than Jupiter but with a density similar to cotton candy, challenging existing planetary formation theories. This "puffy Jupiter" is 50% bigger than Jupiter but only a tenth as dense, making it an anomaly among over 5,500 known exoplanets. Further analysis, especially of its atmosphere, is needed to understand its unique characteristics.

"Cotton Candy Density Found on Newly Discovered Clown Planet"

Scientists have discovered an exoplanet called WASP-193b, located 1,200 light years away, which is roughly 50 times the size of Neptune but has only about one percent the density of Earth. Dubbed an "extremely low-density super-Neptune," WASP-193b belongs to a rare class of cloud-like planets that are fluffy like cotton candy. Despite its age of up to six billion years, it challenges the prevailing theory about the formation of such "super-puff" planets. Further research is needed to understand the unique properties of WASP-193b and the mysteries of the universe.
