Linux Mint 22.1 "Xia" Beta is now available for download, featuring updates to the Cinnamon desktop environment, improved Wayland compatibility, and new package management tools. Notable changes include a new Night Light feature, a modernized APT system, and a new GUI DEB package installer. The release continues to use the Mint-Y-Dark theme by default, with the option to switch to Cinnamon's new theme. The beta is based on Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS and will be supported until 2029 once stable.
