A U.S. bankruptcy judge warned Rudy Giuliani about a potential "pyrrhic victory" in a dispute over whether he should sell his $3.5 million Florida condo, encouraging him and the creditors to work out a compromise. The judge cautioned that creditors may escalate their efforts to control Giuliani's bankruptcy if their current request is denied, potentially leading to more extreme bankruptcy remedies. Giuliani filed for Chapter 11 protection after being found to have defamed two former Georgia election workers and faces a $148 million defamation judgment. The creditors argue that Giuliani will not have enough money to pay all of them and keep a luxury home in Florida, while expressing concern about the high maintenance costs at the property.

Mississippi State Auditor Shad White has filed a countersuit against former NFL quarterback Brett Favre to recover principal and interest from $1.1 million in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families funds that Favre received. This comes after Favre sued White for defamation last February. White's office discovered "illegal" transfers to Favre during an earlier investigation and demanded repayment in 2021, but Favre admitted fault and failed to pay the entire amount due. The countersuit seeks to require Favre to repay $729,790 in principal and interest. Favre was also named as one of 38 defendants in a civil case filed by the Mississippi Department of Human Services to reclaim misspent TANF funds, part of which went towards a new volleyball stadium at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Riley Keough, in charge of her late mother Lisa Marie Presley's trust, is fighting a debt collector's attempt to make her pay off a $1.6 million loan on a UK property owned by her mother. The bank claims Lisa personally guaranteed payment, but Riley argues that the statute of limitations has expired and that Lisa only guaranteed interest payments, not the outstanding principal. She has filed legal documents to declare that the trust should not be responsible for the debt, and a judge has yet to rule on the matter.
