The Khalidi Library in Israeli-annexed east Jerusalem houses a valuable collection of manuscripts dating back hundreds of years, offering a rare glimpse into Palestinian history. The library, founded in 1900, holds a diverse range of manuscripts, including those on jurisprudence, astronomy, the Prophet's biography, and the Qur'an. Rami Salameh, a restorer, has been working to restore and digitize these historical documents, some of which are over 300 years old. The library's collection provides insights into the cultural and social life of Palestinians in Jerusalem, countering the claim that the land was empty prior to the creation of Israel. Despite facing challenges, including the seizure of part of the library by Israeli settlers, the library continues to preserve cultural heritage through restoration and digitization efforts.
