Diamondbacks Lose Merrill Kelly to Injured List and Option Mantiply

The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed right-hander Merrill Kelly on the 15-day injured list due to right calf inflammation, retroactive to June 25, and optioned left-hander Joe Mantiply to Triple-A Reno. In corresponding moves, righties Kevin Ginkel and Justin Martinez were recalled from Reno. Kelly's injury is a notable loss for the club, which has a fairly top-heavy rotation. Martinez, 21, will be making his major league debut as soon as he gets into a game.

Christian Walker hit a go-ahead double with two outs in the ninth inning, and Kevin Ginkel pitched two hitless innings to secure the win. The Diamondbacks have won five straight and 11 of 13, improving to 20-11 on the road and extending their lead in the NL West. Miguel Cabrera also reached a milestone, moving past Dave Winfield into sole possession of 22nd on the career hit list.
