Solar stocks, including SolarEdge Technologies, Enphase Energy, SunRun, and SunPower, experienced significant declines after SolarEdge warned of slowing installations in Europe, with its stock plunging around 30% and becoming the worst performer in the S&P 500.
The New Museum in Manhattan is hosting a 30-year survey of Puerto Rican-born artist Pepón Osorio's work, titled "Pepón Osorio: My Beating Heart/Mi corazón latiente." The exhibition showcases five immersive installations that reflect Osorio's experiences in Puerto Rico and New York, addressing political, social, and cultural issues affecting Latino and working communities. Osorio's assemblages and sculptures explore themes of masculinity, violence, incarceration, and health care, offering a range of intimate, raucous, and tender perspectives. The artist's work challenges assimilation and highlights the voices of marginalized communities.
US solar energy installations surged by 47% in Q1 2021, with 6.1 GW of capacity installed, enough to power over 1 million homes. The sector accounted for 54% of new US electric generating capacity during the quarter, with Florida leading the way. Large projects for utilities and other big customers led installations with 3.8 GW, up 66% from a year earlier. The growth represents a substantial turnaround for the industry, which has been struggling with tight supplies of imported panels. The Biden administration's new Inflation Reduction Act is expected to drive strong growth for the industry over the next five years.
