He experienced a complete blockage in his left main coronary artery (LMCA), causing his heart to stop beating six times in the ambulance and twice more in the hospital. Placed in an induced coma, doctors were unsure if he would wake up or regain his ability to walk and talk. However, when life support was unplugged, Wasserstrom miraculously recovered. Widow-maker heart attacks are rare and typically affect individuals over 45 years old. Only 12 percent of those who suffer the attack outside of the hospital survive.
