Yemen's Huthi Rebels Turn Seized Cargo Ship into Tourist Attraction
Yemen's Huthi rebels have turned the seized Galaxy Leader cargo ship into a domestic "tourist attraction" for male-only groups, charging about a dollar per trip to visit the vessel, which is now decorated with Yemeni and Palestinian flags and anti-American and anti-Israel slogans. The rebels captured the ship in solidarity with Palestinians during the Israel-Hamas war and have launched attacks on passing commercial ships they claim are linked to Israel. Despite US-led naval patrols and strikes on Huthi military sites, visitors continue to flock to the ship, viewing it as a source of pride and a symbol of resistance against the US and Israel. The fate of the 25 detained crew members remains unknown.
