Rocket Lab launches CubeSats and satellites for NASA's hurricane tracking mission.

Rocket Lab's Electron rocket successfully launched two NASA CubeSats, part of the TROPICS constellation, designed to provide frequent updates on typhoon and hurricane development for new insights into how tropical storms evolve and intensify. The unique orbits over Earth's tropics allow the satellites to travel over any given storm about once an hour, compared with current weather tracking satellites that have a timing of about once every six hours. NASA launches twin satellites to track extreme storms from space.

Rocket Lab is set to launch NASA's second pair of TROPICS hurricane research satellites, which were reassigned from Astra following a launch failure last year. Originally planned as a series of six satellites, the first two were lost in the Astra launch failure, and the remaining four were subsequently switched to Rocket Lab.
