
Tragic Losses: Multiple Deaths in Austin Hostage Standoff and Police Shooting
A hostage standoff in Austin, Texas, resulted in four deaths, including a SWAT officer who was killed in a shootout with the suspect. Responding to a 911 call reporting a woman being stabbed, police found a suspect armed with a knife inside a residence with two victims. After attempts to enter the home were met with gunfire, SWAT officers forced their way in and exchanged fire with the suspect. Two officers and the suspect were hit, with one officer dying and the other in stable condition. Two victims were found dead inside the residence. The incident marks the first time in over a decade that an Austin police officer has died in an on-duty shooting.
