"US Targets Iran and Syria with New Sanctions on Military and Financial Networks"

The US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has imposed sanctions on six entities, one individual, and two tankers from Liberia, India, Vietnam, Lebanon, and Kuwait for facilitating commodity shipments and financial transactions for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF), the Houthis, and Hizballah. This action is part of a concerted effort to disrupt IRGC-QF finances and its support to terrorist proxies, targeting a network of Iran-based, IRGC-QF-backed Houthi financial facilitator Sa’id al-Jamal. The designated entities and individuals are blocked from engaging in transactions with US persons, and financial institutions engaging with them may face sanctions or enforcement actions.

Escalating Tensions: Lebanon's Role in Israel's Multiple Fronts

As Israel prepares for a full-scale war against Hamas, there is a growing concern that violence may escalate along Israel's northern border with Lebanon, potentially leading to a second front between Israel and Hizballah. While Hizballah has the means to target Israeli territory, it has thus far chosen not to escalate the situation further. To avoid a full-blown war, the United States should continue signaling support for Israel, and Israel needs to restore its deterrence by achieving significant results in its war against Hamas. It is crucial to prevent a second front from opening between Israel and Hizballah, as the damage from such a war would be far greater than the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

The Treasury Department is committed to pursuing Hizballah operatives and financiers worldwide.
