"Combination Prevention: Key to Reducing HIV Incidence, More Action Needed"

Combination prevention strategies, including pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), increased HIV testing, and antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation at diagnosis, have contributed to a decline in new HIV infections among gay and bisexual men who have sex with men (GBMSM) in the United Kingdom. However, further improvements are needed to meet the projected reduction goals for 2025 and 2030. Enhanced testing and ART provision can help further reduce HIV incidence, but cost reduction for testing and PrEP is necessary. The study highlights the importance of maintaining and expanding current interventions while addressing affordability to achieve the desired HIV reduction targets.

Grindr partners with public health initiative to provide free at-home HIV tests.

Grindr, the world's most popular gay dating app, is partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Emory University to distribute free at-home HIV testing kits to populations most affected by the virus. The program, called Together TakeMeHome, will provide up to 1 million HIV self-tests over five years, at no cost for individuals. Grindr's primary role in the effort is to allow users in the U.S. and Puerto Rico to easily order an at-home HIV test directly from the app. The test kit consists of an FDA-approved OraQuick device that uses mouth swabs and takes 20 minutes to provide a result.
