Three high school seniors were arrested and charged with first-degree murder by extreme indifference after throwing large landscaping rocks at several cars, killing a Colorado woman as she drove just outside Denver. The suspects were identified as Nicholas “Mitch” Karol-Chik, Joseph Koenig, and Zachary Kwak, all 18 and 12th graders in Jefferson County Public Schools. The arrests were made with the help of tips from the public and cellphone data. The suspects were expected to make their first court appearance on Thursday morning.

A shooting at a Sweet 16 birthday party in Dadeville, Alabama, left four people dead and at least 28 injured, many of whom were teenagers. Two of the victims were local high school seniors, Philstavious Dowdell and Keke Smith. Dowdell was a gifted athlete who had secured a football scholarship to Jacksonville State University, while Smith was a student athletics manager for Dadeville High School’s track team. The shooting has devastated the small city of Dadeville, where “everybody knows everybody,” according to a local chaplain.
