"Texas Supreme Court's Abortion Ruling Sparks Controversy and Outrage"
The Texas Supreme Court has ruled against a woman, Kate Cox, seeking an abortion for her high-risk pregnancy after her foetus was diagnosed with a fatal condition. Texas has one of the strictest abortion bans in the country, allowing exceptions only when the life of the expectant mother is under threat. The court found that Cox's doctor had not proven her safety was threatened due to a "life-threatening physical condition" as required by law. This case is believed to be the first instance of a woman seeking court permission for an abortion since the US Supreme Court gave individual states power to control abortion access. Cox's lawyers announced she had left Texas to obtain an abortion outside the state, and hours later, the Texas Supreme Court ruled against her.
