Uncovering the Secrets of Heidelberg Hominids: Insights from a Humble Stick
A well-preserved double-pointed throwing stick, believed to have been used by the extinct Heidelberg People during the Ice Age, has been discovered at the Schoeningen Palaeolithic site complex in Germany. The stick, measuring four feet long, showcases the sophisticated woodwork techniques of these early humans, challenging previous assumptions about their intelligence and capabilities. It is speculated that the stick was used for hunting large game or smaller mammals and birds. The find provides insights into the hunting strategies and craftsmanship of the Heidelberg People, who were the first recorded hominids to build homes and hunt big game but became extinct before the end of the last Ice Age.
