Hays County Officer Indicted for Shooting Shackled Inmate in the Back.

Garcia is no longer employed with the sheriff’s office following the indictment. The Wright family is calling for video of the shooting to be released but Hays County officials said the video won’t be released until the investigation is finished.

Hays County Officer Indicted for Inmate Shooting

A Hays County corrections officer, identified as Isaiah Garcia, has been indicted on a deadly conduct charge for the shooting of Joshua Wright, an inmate who was being held pre-trial at a Kyle hospital in December. Garcia shot Wright after he allegedly tried to escape and assaulted Garcia. The Texas Rangers conducted the investigation, and the results, including the body-worn camera video, were presented to the grand jury.
