Hays County Officer Indicted for Inmate Shooting

A Hays County corrections officer, identified as Isaiah Garcia, has been indicted on a deadly conduct charge for the shooting of Joshua Wright, an inmate who was being held pre-trial at a Kyle hospital in December. Garcia shot Wright after he allegedly tried to escape and assaulted Garcia. The Texas Rangers conducted the investigation, and the results, including the body-worn camera video, were presented to the grand jury. Deadly conduct is charged as a third-degree felony offense, with a possible punishment of two to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
