Michigan drivers who use a cellphone on the road could face penalties effective June 30 after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a package of distracted driving prevention legislation into law that aims to reduce fatal crashes and make the state's roads safer. Michigan became the 26th state to institute a statute that requires hands-free use of cellphones. The law doesn't apply to hands-free Bluetooth devices. Motorists from states without hands-free driving laws will be expected to abide by the law while traveling in Michigan.

T-Mobile subscribers can now make and receive phone calls hands-free through Alexa on dedicated devices, thanks to a new Alexa skill that links T-Mobile service directly to Alexa accounts. The feature is free for T-Mobile customers and can be enabled by selecting T-Mobile under accounts in the Alexa app. Commands like "Alexa, call John" or "Alexa, dial 1-800-255-3700" can be used to make calls, and emergency services can be accessed by saying "Alexa, call 911."
