The Smithsonian's National Zoo is welcoming two new giant pandas, Bao Li and Qing Bao, by the end of 2024. The zoo is enhancing their indoor and outdoor habitats with modern features and improved safety measures. Funds raised through memberships, donations, and merchandise sales support panda care and broader conservation efforts.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has lifted deer feeding bans in 24 counties to focus efforts in high-risk areas for chronic wasting disease. The DNR has also added five new counties to feeding and attractant bans in hopes of containing the spread of CWD. The DNR does not encourage the public to feed deer and recommends focusing efforts on improving habitat during the growing season to provide long-term food resources and shelter that deer can use annually.
