NRA files lawsuit against Maryland over new gun control laws
The National Rifle Association (NRA) has filed a lawsuit against Maryland moments after Governor Wes Moore signed the Gun Safety Act of 2023, also known as the state's concealed carry law. The law prohibits carrying a gun onto certain properties without the owner's permission. The NRA believes the law is unconstitutional and defies common sense, while Maryland Attorney General Anthony Brown says it's necessary to keep Marylanders safe. Baltimore City State's Attorney Ivan Bates says the surge in gun violence across the state is one of the most pressing issues for Maryland leadership.
