Goodyear director of racing, Greg Stucker, expressed confusion over the drastic increase in tire wear at Bristol Motor Speedway during the Food City 500 NASCAR race, despite using the same tire package as the previous year. The extreme cording and lack of rubber adherence to the track led to drivers conserving rubber and NASCAR allowing an extra set of tires. Goodyear is working to understand the unexpected change and adjust accordingly.
