Switzerland has claimed the top spot in the annual Best Countries rankings released by U.S. News and World Report, with the United States slipping from fourth to fifth place. Switzerland was praised for being "open for business" and scored high in entrepreneurship, cultural influence, and quality of life. Canada, Sweden, and Australia also ranked high on the list. The U.S. ranked first in entrepreneurship and power but fell behind in adventure and being "open for business." The rankings are based on a survey of over 17,000 people worldwide, and despite the slip, the U.S. benefits from more favorable opinions of President Joe Biden compared to former President Donald Trump.
