Investigation Reveals Cause of Gaza Hospital Blast: Palestinian Rocket Failure
U.S. intelligence officials have concluded with "high confidence" that the deadly blast at Gaza's Al-Ahli hospital was not caused by Israeli munitions, but rather by a rocket launched by Palestinian militants that suffered from "catastrophic motor failure." The explosion occurred when the rocket's warhead was propelled into the hospital compound. The officials cited evidence such as signals intercepts, video sources, photographs, and geolocation technologies to support their assessment. They also mentioned that the light structural damage and flight videos of the launch were inconsistent with air-dropped munitions or artillery rounds. The intelligence community could not rule out the possibility of new information changing their assessment.
