US Resumes Free At-Home Covid Test Program Amid Rising Cases

The US government will resume its free at-home COVID-19 test kit program starting September 25th, offering four tests per kit with extended expiration dates. The program, intended to run until the end of 2023, comes as hospitalizations have been steadily rising since July. The White House has invested $600 million to purchase 200 million over-the-counter tests from 12 US manufacturers. If demand is high, manufacturers may sell tests directly to retailers. Additionally, new monovalent formulations of Pfizer and Moderna's vaccines, based on the omicron variant, are now available and recommended for individuals who have received up to three mRNA shots.
