"Mapping America's Unhealthiest States: Tennessee and West Virginia Rank Poorly"
Tennessee ranks among the least healthy states in the U.S. according to a Forbes study, with high rates of chronic diseases, drug abuse, and unhealthy lifestyle habits. The state has the highest rate of opioid and prescription pain reliever misuse, a significant opioid epidemic, and ranks poorly in areas such as smoking, obesity, lack of exercise, and mortality rates for cancer and heart disease. The study compared all 50 states across 21 metrics and found that Tennessee scored 94.39 out of 100, placing it as the third least healthy state in the country.
