AMD Dominates Market Share Across Mobile, Desktop, and Server in Q3

AMD has secured a significant market share win in Q3 2023 with its EPYC server CPUs and Ryzen mobile CPUs, according to statistics from Mercury Research. The company's EPYC CPUs for servers saw a 5.8-point share increase compared to last year, bringing them closer to their goal of achieving a 40% server market share by the end of 2024. The mobile segment also experienced growth, thanks to the latest Ryzen 7000 and increased Ryzen 6000 volume. AMD's desktop CPUs saw a slight increase in market share, and the company is expected to continue gaining market share in the coming months. AMD plans to unveil its next-gen Zen 5 architecture at CES 2024.

AMD EPYC Bergamo and Genoa-X: Unleashing Unprecedented Performance

AMD has released the EPYC 9754 processor, part of the Bergamo lineup, which offers up to 128 cores and 256 threads per socket. The processor, built on the Zen 4C core architecture, aims to maximize core density and power efficiency, making it appealing to cloud service providers. With the ability to provide up to 16 cores per CCD, Bergamo offers improved performance compared to previous Genoa processors. The EPYC 9754 has a base clock of 2.25GHz, an all-core boost speed of 3.1GHz, and a maximum boost clock of 3.1GHz, with a configurable TDP of 320 to 400 Watts. The processor is priced at $11,900 USD.

AMD's EPYC Genoa-X CPUs with massive cache and AI capabilities now available for data centers.

AMD has announced the availability of its Genoa-X EPYC processors, which feature up to 1.1GB of L3 cache. The processors use cache die stacking to add further L3 cache to otherwise regular Genoa Zen 4 CCDs, giving AMD a novel way to produce a high-cache chip design without having to actually lay out and fab a complete separate die. These high-cache SKUs are aimed at a niche market segment of workloads that benefit specifically from the additional cache, which AMD terms their “technical computing” market.

AMD's EPYC CPUs: More Cores, More Speed, More Competition.

AMD has announced the release of its high-density "Bergamo" server CPUs, based on the Zen 4c architecture, offering up to 128 CPU cores and shipping now. The Zen 4c architecture is designed to maximise the number of vCPUs that can run on top of a single, physical CPU, making it ideal for the cloud computing market. The new chips are more energy-efficient than AMD's current-generation flagship EPYC 9004 "Genoa" chips, making them a strong competitor to Arm-based rivals. The Bergamo chips are also socket compatible with the rest of the EPYC 9004 series, using the same SP5 socket.
