Oil and gas companies are under scrutiny for disguising methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas, as detected by satellites near the COP29 climate summit in Azerbaijan. Despite global pledges to reduce methane emissions, the energy sector's emissions remain high, with many leaks and flares going unreported or underreported.
