Two LDS missionaries, Elder Robert "Tommy" Gardner from Riverton and Elder Jacob Aaron Kesler from Ely, Nevada, were killed in a car crash in North Dakota. The missionaries rear-ended a stopped semi-truck on a highway near Beulah. Both were wearing seatbelts, and the crash is under investigation. Church leadership expressed condolences to their families and fellow missionaries.

The electric bike involved in the fatal crash that killed two teenagers in Ely, Cardiff, was an early birthday present for one of the victims, Harvey Evans, who was an experienced rider. The deaths sparked a riot, with cars set alight and police officers attacked. The police have denied chasing the boys, but the force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) over their involvement in the incident.
