NASA's Psyche Probe Begins Journey to Asteroid with Futuristic Thrusters
NASA's Psyche spacecraft has successfully completed its six-month health check and is now in full cruise mode, using advanced electric thrusters to navigate through deep space. Launched in October 2023, the mission aims to study the metal-rich asteroid Psyche, believed to be the exposed core of an early planetesimal, to gain insights into planetary core formation. The spacecraft is currently over 190 million miles from Earth and is expected to reach its target in 2029.
