Pump Iron for Youthful Skin: Weight Room Benefits Revealed

Weightlifting has been found to be more effective than aerobic training in rejuvenating the skin, according to a recent Japanese study. The study divided middle-aged women into two groups, one doing aerobic training and the other doing resistance training using weight machines. The study suggests that even less resistance training can have a positive effect on the skin, and recommends working the larger muscles of the body for an anti-inflammatory effect.

The Fascinating Functions of Skin: A Comprehensive Overview.

Skin is the body's largest organ and acts as a protective barrier between the external environment and the inside of the body. It regulates body temperature, prevents water loss, produces vitamin D, and detects sensations caused by mechanical stimuli. Skin is composed of three layers of tissue: the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. The skin microbiome refers to microorganisms, such as bacteria and fungi, that live on the surface of the skin and play an important role in protecting the skin from harmful microbes. Skin ages due to both "intrinsic" and "extrinsic" factors.
