OpenAI's new tool Sora can create minute-long AI-generated video clips from text prompts, raising concerns about the potential for misinformation and deepfake content. Chinese technology companies, including Huawei and Alibaba, have submitted 110 applications to China's cyberspace regulator for approvals related to deepfake technology, which allows for the manipulation of visual and audio data. These applications are in compliance with regulations set out by the Cyberspace Administration of China in December. The approval process is separate from the regulation of generative artificial intelligence products. Five other Chinese tech firms, including Baidu and SenseTime Group, recently launched AI chatbots after receiving government approval. A "first look" video clip has been released showcasing David Corenswet as Superman in the upcoming film Superman: Legacy. Directed by James Gunn, the movie will introduce a younger Man of Steel but will not be an origin story.
