The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada has approved NV Energy's plan to reduce rates for customers starting July 1. The reduction, which will vary between 5% and 16% depending on location and type of electric service, aims to alleviate the impact of higher purchased power and natural gas prices. While customers will see a reduction on their July bills, overall electricity bills may still be higher than last summer due to increased fuel costs. NV Energy estimates that the average single-family residential customer in northern Nevada will save around $20 per month over July, August, and September.
