
Damar Hamlin Honored with NFL's Adversity Award for Overcoming Mid-Game Cardiac Arrest.
Damar Hamlin, a Buffalo Bills safety, visited Kaleida Health to thank nursing staff for their care during his recovery from cardiac arrest. Hamlin collapsed on the field during an NFL game in January and was resuscitated before being transferred to Buffalo General Medical Center/Gates Vascular Institute. He won the 2023 George Halas Award for overcoming adversity to succeed. Hamlin has been cleared to resume playing and plans to donate $10 million in donations towards promoting safety in sports through CPR & AED training.
