"Connecticut's Expansion: New EV Charging Stations Set to Multiply"

The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded Connecticut's Department of Energy and Environmental Protection a $14.6 million grant to expand the state's network of electric vehicle charging stations, with a focus on neighborhood revitalization and equitable access. Seven towns and cities across the state, including Bridgeport, Hartford, and Stamford, will receive new charging stations, funded by President Joe Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This initiative aims to make it easier for people and businesses to transition to cleaner cars and trucks, following Governor Ned Lamont's withdrawal from a plan to ban the sale of gasoline-powered cars in Connecticut by 2035.

"US Government Allocates $623 Million for Nationwide Electric Vehicle Charging Network Expansion"

The Biden-Harris Administration has announced $623 million in grants to expand the electric vehicle (EV) charging network across the U.S., aiming to create American jobs and ensure convenient charging for drivers. This funding, part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will support 47 EV charging and alternative-fueling infrastructure projects in 22 states and Puerto Rico, including construction of approximately 7,500 EV charging ports. The grants align with President Biden's goal of at least 500,000 publicly available chargers by 2030 and contribute to the rapid and equitable transition to clean transportation systems, reducing air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. Over 70% of the funding will support project sites in disadvantaged communities, promoting accessibility and reliability of clean transportation.

"Biden Administration Mandates Green Transportation for Federal Employees"

The Biden-Harris Administration is taking action to accelerate America's clean transportation future by announcing new commitments from both the public and private sectors. The federal government is leading by example with new guidelines directing the use of sustainable transportation for official and local travel, including prioritizing electric vehicle use, expanding rail travel, and increasing public transit use. Private companies in the travel and hospitality sector, rental car and rideshare companies, and other organizations are also making commitments to boost electric vehicles and sustainable travel options. These efforts align with President Biden's goal of having at least 50% of all new vehicle sales be electric by 2030 and contribute to job creation, healthier communities, and a reduction in carbon emissions.

Biden Administration Proposes Tough New Rules to Accelerate Electric Vehicle Adoption.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed new federal vehicle emissions standards that would significantly reduce climate and other harmful air pollution, unlocking significant benefits for public health, especially in communities that have borne the greatest burden of poor air quality. The proposed standards would avoid nearly 10 billion tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to more than twice the total US CO2 emissions in 2022, while saving thousands of dollars over the lives of the vehicles meeting these new standards and reduce America’s reliance on approximately 20 billion barrels of oil imports.
