A skin condition called photocontact dermatitis, or 'margarita burn', can be triggered by foods such as citrus, figs, celery, parsley, parsnip, carrots, beans, and yarrow due to the organic molecule furanocoumarin. This reaction occurs when the skin comes into contact with these foods and is then exposed to sunlight, causing an itchy, red rash. Other triggers include some medical creams and fragrances in sunscreen. Dr. Brandon Adler warns of an increase in cases, advising affected individuals to wash the skin and avoid sun exposure, with most rashes resolving without medication.
