Rare 'Horned' Comet to Grace Night Sky During Eclipse Season
Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, known as the "devil comet" for its horned features and green color, will be visible from Earth for the first time in over 70 years, coinciding with April's solar eclipse. Stargazers in the Northern Hemisphere may spot the comet near the western horizon at dusk using a telescope or binoculars, and it will make its closest pass by Earth in the days leading up to the eclipse. Those using binoculars or a telescope during mid-eclipse may have the potential to see the comet, which will be about 25 degrees away from the eclipsed sun.
