"Promising Results: Bodybuilding Supplement Delays Dementia in Mice"
A study conducted on mice by researchers from Rush University and the Simmaron Research Institute has found that the bodybuilding supplement beta-hydroxy beta-methylbutyrate (HMB) protects against cognitive decline and reduces plaque build-up in the brain, which is typical of Alzheimer's disease. HMB was found to interact with a signal receiver in the brain that helps metabolize fatty acids, leading to improved neural performance and replenishment of beneficial proteins. While further research is needed to understand the exact mechanisms and confirm the effects in humans, this study offers promising insights into potential treatments for dementia conditions such as Alzheimer's.
