Mummy exhibit in Mexico raises concerns for visitors.
Concerns have been raised after signs of life were spotted on one of the accidental mummies in a traveling exhibit of the Mummies of Guanajuato in Mexico. The mummies were discovered in the 1800s and are now on display at the Museo de las Momias de Guanajuato. Experts saw photos of the exhibit and spotted signs of possible fungal growths on one mummy, raising concerns about biohazard risks and damage to the fragile mummies. Mexico’s National Institute of Anthropology and History has asked to analyze the mummies and collaborate in their management.
