Scientists Unravel Mystery of Ocean's Quacking Sounds as Whale Conversations
Researchers have reanalyzed mysterious "bio-duck" sounds recorded in the South Fiji Basin in 1982, concluding they are likely conversations between marine animals, possibly Minke whales. These sounds, initially thought to be mechanical, were captured using hydrophones and suggest a form of communication where one speaker talks while others listen. Despite no direct sightings of whales during recordings, the sounds are believed to originate from these intelligent marine mammals.
