
Poland Takes a Historic Step Towards Nuclear Power with Landmark Contract
Westinghouse Electric Company, Bechtel, and Polish utility Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe have signed an Engineering Services Contract for Poland's first nuclear power plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in Pomerania. The contract includes designing three Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear islands, turbine island and balance of plant design work, and support for license application materials and training programs. The project aims to rebuild Poland's energy mix, strengthen the economy, and create opportunities for the country. The first AP1000 reactor is expected to achieve commercial operation in 2033.
