The bail for Loay Abedelfattah Alnaji, a pro-Palestinian professor charged in the death of a Jewish demonstrator during a street protest in California, was reduced from $1 million to $50,000. Alnaji, who pleaded not guilty to two felony counts, could still face hate crime charges. His lawyer argued that he is not a flight risk and has no criminal history. The defense also claimed that there is video evidence of the victim being abusive towards protesters in the past. The Ventura County District Attorney's office has not ruled out hate crime charges but has so far charged Alnaji with involuntary manslaughter and battery causing serious bodily injury.
