"Cutting Salt Intake: A Natural Alternative to Blood Pressure Medication"

A study involving middle-aged to elderly individuals found that reducing dietary sodium intake resulted in a significant reduction in blood pressure, comparable to the effect of a commonly used antihypertensive medication. The blood pressure-lowering effect was observed in nearly 75% of participants and was independent of hypertension status and antihypertensive medication use. Adverse events were minimal. These findings suggest that dietary sodium reduction can be an effective strategy for lowering blood pressure in this population.
